Even before 2NE1 became a popular girl group in South Korea, Filipinos have always been fond of Sandara Park. She’s the Pambansang Krung-Krung after all and that trait of hers can still be seen especially on variety shows she’s part of. Starting from her “Star Circle Quest” days to getting leading roles from movies such as “Can This Be Love” (2005), “D’Lucky Ones” (2006), “Super Noypi” (2006), and “Bcuz of U” (2004), there was no stopping her fame in the Philippines. As if that’s not enough, she found more success when she went back to her home country and revolutionized the way we think about K-artists.
Here’s an all-time list why we just can’t get enough of Dara:
- She always acknowledges her fans
As a first time musical actress, her theater debut in “Another Oh Hae Young” was something fans didn’t want to miss. In fact, there are heaps of photos from fansite masternims that followed her schedule. After her shows, she never miss meeting her fans and lovingly received their gifts. She even communicated and allowed them to take photos of her before she can officially rest for the day.
I remember when I watched almost all the tapings of “Pinoy Boyband Superstar,” she also gave away signatures to fans almost every break. That time, most of us have waited for 7 to 9 hours before the taping officially started and after that we had to stand during the taping. Though it was tiring, I loved the fact that whenever she was introduced at the start of episode, she always makes sure she reaches out to the hands of her fans. To anyone wondering how her hands felt – it was so soft and it smells divine! She definitely is one of the best at giving fan service.
2. When she goes home to the Philippines, she always goes billboard-hopping
Although she’s a superstar in her own right already, you can see how humble she is by acknowledging even the smallest projects she has. She always makes sure that she advertises each project carefully and she’s always proud to collaborate with Filipino brands.
3. She’s always ready to give Dara tour to her Korean friends
If that’s not Filipino love, I don’t know what to call it. There are several instances already when she toured fellow artists and other friends here. Tagaytay, Palawan, Cebu, and Boracay are just some of the places where she toured them around. She’s not an endorser of Gerry’s Grill but she always posts the foods of the said resto whenever she comes home. Apart from that, she’s also addicted to Jollibee! Many of the South Korean artists who come here never forget to try Jollibee, probably because of her.
4. She made DaraTV for her fans
She’s always happy to share her adventures in life and to share something so private and precious.
5. She even knows how to play drums (The question is, is there something that she can’t possibly do?)
She’s always up to something new and every time she showcases her drumming skills, we can’t help but feel proud of her achievements.
There’s always a new side to her. I love it when she plays cameo in K-dramas. Her recent appearance is at Dinner Mate.
6. She’s a certified fashion inspo
Her fashion sense is impeccable. No matter how she dresses up, clothes naturally bow down to her. She’s not afraid to try new styles, not only with her clothes but also with her hairstyles. She’s always present at runways and takes fashion to a whole new level.
7. Her voice is angelic
Though I’ve always loved 2NE1 as a group, being solo has allowed her to shine even more. She even showcased her skills with her own rendition of Ni Yao De Ai. As a Meteor Garden fan, I kept replaying her video and crying because of how talented she is. People have criticized her vocal capabilities so many times before but I don’t think they can do that anymore. Not with these receipts…
8. She’s a certified cat lover
Once in her interview, she mentioned not being able to stay in the Philippines for a long time because her cats need her. We all need a proud and loving cat mama!
9. She’s always loyal to her friends
Even her friends say so… She always goes to great lengths in order to show her love for her friends. Can we have a friend like Dara?
10. She has always been promoting the Philippines!
She can’t help but always share positive things about the Philippines, which led to several of her friends touring around the nation. Not only does she take a lot of photos, she has even featured Philippines several times on her vlog and even in South Korean channels.
I’m sure there are a lot more things about Dara. I’m glad I’ve got to share at least 10 of them just to an introduction to those who are not familiar with her. I’ll always be a proud fan of hers and I hope you begin to appreciate her honesty, loyalty, and her unbroken persevering attitude! I don’t know what other things she might do next, but I’m sure it’s going to be great, she’s versatile after all.
Please support her new show, ‘Follow Me,’ a review program on beauty, fashion, lifestyle, food, and IT. Pretty sure that we’ll see another side of her on that show.
