Kolorful Adventures To Look Forward To This June

We are midway through the year, but the Korean Cultural Center in the Philippines (KCC) is just about to kick off yet another amazing month of learning experiences! From free language lessons to hallyu-themed webinars, these are the events that you wouldn’t want to miss this June:

ChikaHansik: Kimchi Edition

When: All Fridays of June at 5 PM

Where: KCC’s official YouTube channel

This fun and mouthwatering digital talk and cooking series shines the spotlight on Korea’s most essential contribution to the world’s culinary tapestry: Kimchi. Hosted by Kring Kim, the conversations (chikahan) with some ~very special~ guests are sure to be entertaining and juicy! Catch the series in its entirety, and you’ll learn how to make Kimchi Sinigang, KKakdugi Beokkeumbap, Kimchi Jeon, and Budae Jjigae in no time!

K-Stans: K-Education

When: 10 June 

Where: KCC’s official YouTube channel

With more Filipinos taking interest in K-culture and entertainment, the Korean language is becoming more familiar to Pinoys, strengthening the connection between the Philippines and South Korea. The shorterview K-Education will be featuring Special Program in Foreign Language (SPFL) teachers and students, who will discuss the growing popularity and the burning passion of Filipinos in learning the Korean language. 

K-Drama Webinar

When: 30 June

Where: KCC’s official YouTube channel

If you enjoyed last year’s K-Drama webinar, you better get ready because the second installment of KCC’s K-Drama webinar will be streamed this June! The one-day webinar will be graced by industry experts, who will lead a scriptwriting workshop, as well as some discussions on the global promotion and marketing of South Korean dramas. To make the event even more exciting, viewers will get a chance to win special prizes from APOP Books if they actively participate in the webinar. 

KCC Throwback Photo & Essay Contest

When: TBA

As a prelude to KCC’s 10th birthday in the Philippines next month, the contest invites KCC’s supporters through the years to submit photos and writeups of all the fun activities and memories they had with KCC. Winners will be awarded with exciting prizes, including P5,000 in cash, a KCC gift bag, and a feature on KCC’s social media pages. 

Traditional Thursday

When: All Thursdays of June

Explore the mysterious world of Korea’s mythical folk characters, such as the Gumiho, Goblin, Grim Reaper, and the King of the Underworld, through fascinating stories that will be posted on KCC’s SNS pages.

Free Korean Language Classes

When: 1st week of June to the 2nd week of August

If you registered for the language class raffle, hang tight, as winners will get the opportunity to finally learn the Korean language—from writing Hangeul to facilitating basic conversations—under the guidance of certified instructors from the King Sejong Institute in Korea.
